"Well,
I'll tell you what you can learn from Jack. Not
all men are cut out to be fathers. Its not the
job, it's the man. Piano tuner or spy, Jack just
wasn't ready for the responsibility of a family.
and you are."
"Trying
to convince yourself?"
"No
lunkhead, I'm trying to convince you. The very
fact that we're having this conversation, that you
care so much proves it." The Dad Who Came In From The Cold Promo

While sharing
a night of domesticated normalcy, a car explosion
happens outside Lois' apartment. A former agent of
the NIA has been murdered, over a laptop which he
tells Lois and Superman to hold on to, for she was
who he was coming to see when he was taken out.
Lois and Clark enlist hacker Jimmy to look into
the computer, not knowing that their current
articles on the NIA have made them targets, and
the person chosen to come "spy" on them
is no one other than Jimmy's estranged father
Jack. With the thoughts of children on his mind,
Clark notices the strain between Jimmy in his
father, given Jack's job broke up his family, even
though neither his son nor his ex wife new exactly
what Jack did for a living. Clark fears that given
he is constantly being called to save the day,
that when he and Lois do have children they won't
even recognize him because they hardly ever see
him.
A fellow NIA
agent by the name of Trevania wants to be the head
of the NIA and he will use any means possible to
make that possible, not to mention taking out the
two reporters who seem to being running a constant
smear campaign on the association.
