A group of problem kids are reeking havoc on Metropolis, being given a special substance by a scientist by the name of Dr. Carlton. The substance is called Metamyte 5 that makes them smarter than most adults they discover ways to take over the city, and also Clark's secret identity and plan to blackmail him all while they try to get the ultimate "smart stuff" named Metamyte 6 that will keep them smart forever.

Meanwhile, Lois acts as surrogate mother to Amy Valdez, a smart kid who keeps escaping the center and who's mother allows her to stay with Lois on a temporary basis.
